What is the 12 in 12 Challenge?

It's an idea I had a few days ago, to accomplish 12 things during the year of 2012.

How is this different than New Year's resolutions? Well, for one thing, many of us may have already failed in some of our resolutions. Also, these 12 things will be concrete undertakings; not just "getting more exercise," "eating more healthily," or "getting more actively involved in political or social issues," but doing or creating something.

In my case, many of these are things that I have been thinking about for a long time. This will include a variety of creative endeavors -- and putting some of the ideas into production -- in areas like music, games, books, etc.

Should you accept the challenge, your 12-in-12 Challenge might consist of a single project: writing 12 poems, writing letters (remember those?) to 12 people who matter to you, composing 12 songs, etc., or it might be a variety of things. If you are an academic type, maybe it will also include presenting a paper at a conference, publishing an article or on a blog, or completing another chapter of your dissertation or book.

Maybe you'll finally create a scrapbook or album of themed photos, perhaps you'll write some short stories or haikus. If you persevere, you might just accomplish something that's been in your head for years.

I wish you well as you, too, try to accomplish your 12 in 12. Please feel free to share any or all of your projects here!
